Last Day

Today is my last full day at Mbingo.  I am excited to return home and see friends and family, especially as it is the Christmas season, but I am also sad to leave this place.  I have really enjoyed getting to know the people of Cameroon as well as getting the chance to practice medicine here.  The people of Mbingo have opened their hearts to me and have made me feel quite at home.  Today several of the hospital staff approached me and remarked, "Doc, we will be missing you.  The time has been so short."  I agreed with them.

There have certainly been challenges along the way, and I have been quite frustrated and perplexed at times.  Overall, though, it has been a wonderful experience.  Even the perplexing and frustrating times, I think, have served as valuable learning experiences.  I am certainly thankful the Lord allowed me to have this opportunity...and thankful that my residency program allows for opportunities like this.  Thanks to all of you for following along with me in this adventure!

This is the amazing lady who delivered one twin and is still pregnant with the other!  Craziness!
